DIET CHECK – 3 EASY DAILY TIPS TO REDUCE WEIGHT
Weight loss has become a fad nowadays with everyone wanting to shed those extra kilos. Keeping your weight in check is crucial for a healthy lifestyle since overweight people have been proven to have a higher risk of suffering from a range of diseases, from simple allergies to more serious ailments such as diabetes hypertension or PCOS.
So here are three simple stress free weight loss tips that you can follow in your daily life to achieve your dream figure
- STOP EATING WHITES IN FOOD
This is a simple rule which can help one in controlling weight in the long run.
Most of the white food items around are comparatively higher in calories and thus restricting them helps in curbing weight gain.
Some examples of these white items include Maida, Refined Sugar, Cheese, Butter, Ghee, Rice, Potatoes majorly.
As I tell patients at my clinic regularly —aloo chawal cheeni maida – you just need to be careful to make sure that these 4 things aren’t going in your body on regular basis.
When we say white—that doesn’t mean one can have yellow rice in a pulao/ biryani since they do have that white rice only. Similarly, you aren’t allowed to drink coloured aerated beverages since they have WHITE sugar in them.
In our day to day life, it might not be realistic to give up these things completely, either due to obligations at times or your personal cravings at the other. You’re allowed to have these, once in a while, but you need to be careful to consciously reduce the portion of your intake. Instead of a big pastry slice, just take a spoon and satisfy your taste buds. Instead of full barfi just a small side portion is enough. Balancing it out with few more minutes of workout would be a good and smart decision. Over time, you can bring down the intake of these items to almost zero.
Your weight control is your responsibility and only you can do it. And You can do it
- STOP EATING POST 7.30 P.M
In the Jain community, people stick to finishing all their meals before sunset. This is one of the best ways of reducing weight, something that has been rechristened in the modern world and is now popularly known as “Intermittent fasting”. Making this part of your daily eating routine helps reduce fat formation as our body’s metabolism slows down post sunset. Eating late in the evening does not leave enough time to our body to digest all food items leading to weight gain.
For those of you wondering why not everyone in the Jain community is thin and healthy than, well it’s just because they don’t follow the other two rules that well.
- EXERCISE EVERYDAY FOR MINIMUM OF 40 MIN.
Now when it comes to this word ‘exercise’, many people give up without even trying, because most people imagine exercise to mean hitting the gym everyday, which is not realistic for most people, given our hectic lifestyle. Though running on a treadmill everyday at speed of 8km/hr would definitely help, but there are easier forms which you can do on regular basis without having to hit the gym.
Ditch your cars every now and then, walk to the place you need to go or at the least a part of the journey can be done on feet.
Ditch those fast elevators, take the stairs for a few floors, even if not the whole way up.
The most simple and tried is doing your ‘kapalbhati pranayam’ which can be done anywhere anytime when you are sitting ideal, be it car seat or bus seat, you are in waiting queue or watching television.
Losing weight is not as complicated as most people make it out to be. All you need is some motivation and small changes in your daily routine. To see a change outside, change what is going inside.
